In a startling incident at the Patna-Gaya main road junction under the Dhanarua police station in Patna, supporters of two different political factions clashed on Tuesday. The altercation escalated into a violent confrontation, including physical assault and gunfire. The root cause of the incident is believed to be a dispute over the inauguration of a cultural event scheduled for Monday on the occasion of Diwali.

Head-On Clash Leaves Youth Severely Injured

At the pivotal junction, one group brutally attacked a youth from the opposing faction, causing serious head injuries. Upon receiving information about the incident, members of the targeted group retaliated, leading to a full-fledged brawl involving physical violence and gunfire.

Police Intervene, Faces Hostility from Locals

Upon arriving at the scene, the police apprehended two youths from one faction, sparking outrage among the locals. In a volatile turn of events, the crowd turned hostile, pelting the police with stones and successfully freeing one of the detained youths. The clash resulted in injuries, including the Dhanarua police station chief and four other officers.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Takes Charge

Later, ASP Shubham Arya arrived at the location, bringing reinforcement from multiple police stations. The situation was eventually brought under control. The police have initiated the identification of the accused for arrests, and charges related to assaulting the police are being considered.

Cultural Event Sparks Controversy

The incident stems from a cultural event organized on Monday without administrative approval. The event was associated with the inauguration of a program where one group supported a local legislator, while the other faction sided with Shyam Gop, a member of the organizing committee.

Local MLA Rekha Devi's Role in Escalation

MLA Rekha Devi attended the event but left before the inauguration, leading to heated arguments among Shyam Gop's supporters. This disagreement eventually escalated into a violent clash, disrupting the entire area.

Panchayat Head's Injury Amid Attempts to Mediate

Mithilesh Kumar, the representative of the Devdaha Panchayat, sustained injuries while trying to mediate between the two factions. The police were informed of the firing, prompting them to seize the sound system used for the event.

Retribution Targets Shyam Gop's Supporters

On Tuesday evening, a group led by Kallu Yadav from one faction located Ajay Yadav from Shyam Gop's faction at Pabheri Mod. Ajay Yadav was assaulted, and the situation escalated into gunfire, creating chaos in the entire area.

Police Responds, Arrests Made

Acting on the information received, Dhanarua Police Station Chief Rajesh Kumar, with the support of armed forces, reached the location. Gudu Kumar, an accused from the Makhdumpur area, was taken into custody. However, this led to public outrage, resulting in a confrontation with the police and the subsequent escape of the accused.

Injuries and Fallout

In the stone-pelting that followed, Inspector Arvind Kumar, Home Guard Jawan Manoj Kumar Singh, and two other police officers were injured. Manoj Kumar Singh, after primary treatment, was referred to PMCH, while Ajay Yadav, who sustained serious injuries, was also referred for further medical attention.
