Jaipur: CM Ashok Gehlot has written a letter to PM Modi for maximum eligible families of Rajasthan to get the benefit of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. To ensure this benefit, Gehlot has appealed to consider all the eligible families as beneficiaries in the National Food Security Act, 2013, instead of the 2011 Social, Economic and Caste-based census.

Gehlot has said in his letter that the beneficiaries have been selected on the basis of the social, economic and caste-based census of 2011 in the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana of the Government of India. Due to this, only 59 lakh 71 thousand families of Rajasthan are getting the benefit of this scheme based on the criteria set by the Government of India, whereas, in Rajasthan, Bhamashah Health Insurance Scheme operated for the last four years, the National Food Security Act, 2013 ( NFSA) is being provided free medical care to one crore eligible families.

CM Gehlot has said that social, economic and caste-based census figures are about 8 years old. During this period, due to birth, death, marriage and other reasons, the number of family members and their standard of living has changed. Due to considering the eight-year-old census as the basis, a large number of eligible families of the state are not getting the benefit of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
