Raipur: The rift in the Chhattisgarh Congress has intensified. CM Bhupesh Baghel has accepted the resignation of senior minister TS Singhdeo. In the past, TS Singhdeo resigned from the Panchayat and Rural Development Department. At the same time, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has given the charge of the Panchayat and the Rural Development Department to Minister Ravindra Choubey. Now TS Singhdeo has only the health department.

On Thursday, the BJP moved a no-confidence motion against the Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress government in the Assembly. On the second day of the Monsoon Session, the opposition parties moved the motion expressing their disbelief on the Council of Ministers. At the same time, Speaker Charan Das Mahanta read out the motion notice and fixed July 27 as the time for discussion on it. In the 90-member Assembly, there are 71 members of the Congress, 14 from the BJP, three of the JCC and two of the BSP.

Leader of the Opposition Dharam Lal Kaushik had said on Wednesday that the BJP had given a notice of no-confidence motion against the Congress government accusing it of failing on all fronts, including law and order and the welfare of farmers. There is a constitutional crisis in the state because one minister (TS Singhdeo who has left one of his portfolios) has not reposed faith in his own government. It is being said that on the one hand, the formula of CM's post was not implemented in the state for two-and-a-half years and on the contrary, efforts were made to marginalise TS Singhdeo. The pro-Baghel MLAs had opened a front against TS Singhdeo in his own area. In such a situation, Singhdeo resigned from the Ministry of Panchayat and Rural Affairs.
