Dehradun: On Tuesday, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami spent a courtesy visitation to PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Parliament House, New Delhi. Following this, the CM appealed to the Union Home Minister to cooperate with the Centre in implementing the Snow Sentinel Scheme in the districts of international borders. The Chief Minister also made a statement on the uniform civil code after the meeting. The CM said that the Uttarakhand government in collaboration with police, ITBP and SSB has been deployed to prevent migration from villages of districts of international borders (Khatima of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar), relief and rescue operations in the divine disaster. Snow sentinel teams are proposed to be formed.

The same is proposed to be an honorarium as an incentive allowance to those who are part of the said team. The expenditure burden on this is estimated to be about 5 crore 45 lakh rupees. The centre's cooperation is requested in this regard. Dhami appealed for sanctioning of a budget of Rs 20 to 25 crore per annum in the State Police Force Modernisation Scheme to make the state police more effective and modern. The CM said that the Nirbhaya Fund is very important for the relief and rehabilitation of women suffering from crime. A proposal of Rs 25 crore has been approved by the state government from the Centre for the Nirbhaya Fund. He also appealed for early acceptance of the said proposal. 527 crore has been sanctioned for Uttarakhand under the 'Scheme of Financial Assistance to States for Capital Investment' by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. An amount of Rs.3.65 crore was released earlier in this head. Now, the balance amount of Rs.162 crore has also been released. Thus, the entire amount of Rs. 527 crore has been released by the Government of India.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked PM Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for important financial clearances and said that with the guidance of the PM and the help of the Central Government, Uttarakhand is on its way to the path of development. In addition, he said that the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code will be an important step toward fulfilling the aspirations of the framers of the Constitution. The scope of this law will be equal for all citizens, irrespective of the religion they believe in. This will embody the spirit of the Constitution. He said a committee comprising jurists, retired judges, eminent persons of the society and other stakeholders will be constituted in the case. The committee will prepare a draft uniform civil code.
