Patna: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Thursday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone through video conferencing of rural roads and bridges in view of Bihar elections. During this, he said that since we have got the opportunity to work, development works have been done in all the areas in the province. Otherwise there was a time when some special people used to sit and decide where roads would be built. According to that, proposals were also made. But, we have made a policy for road construction. There is no area where roads are not built.

During his address, talking to the Minister and Officer of Rural Works Department, CM Nitish also indicated the announcement of election dates in September. CM Nitish said that "All the remaining work was done in the stipulated time frame and told the Rural Works Minister that I am not asking you, the secretary of the department, that they should say that all the work will be completed on time. The minister does not have the opportunity to work in October. They have only time till August. When the election will be announced in September, it cannot be said. That is why I am speaking to the Secretary to get the work done by October".

CM Nitish Kumar said that "The plan for rural roads was prepared during the tenure of the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Even then, the then government of Bihar did not start any work. The central agency was tasked, but no work was done. Till the year 2005, there were a few rural roads in the state. Roads were not built in the villages. The people of the state gave me an opportunity to work, and since November 2005, extensive work has been done for the city as well as rural roads".
