Goa DGP Pranab Nanda dies due to heart attack, CM Sawant expressed grief

New Delhi: Goa's Director General of Police (DGP) Pranab Nanda has died on Saturday morning due to cardiac arrest (heart attack). IPS officer Nanda breathed his last in Delhi. CM Pramod Sawant said that he is shocked and saddened by the untimely death of senior police officer of the state. CM Sawant wrote in a tweet that, "Shocked and saddened by the untimely demise of Shri Pranab Nanda (IPS), DGP, Goa. My deepest condolences to his family members. May God give them the strength to endure suffering. ''

Pranab Nanda, who was selected for the Indian Police Service in 1998, served in many places including Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi while staying in the state cadre. According to the Goa Police, he joined the Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in 2001 on deputation to the Central Government and continued to do duty until recently returning to the cadre.

IPS officer Nanda handled VVIP security in the country and abroad during his tenure in the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Apart from this, in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Mizoram regions, militancy was fought. He was also posted in the Embassy of Kabul, Afghanistan, India, where he took care of the safety of Indians. Apart from this, he also monitored several projects of the Government of India in Afghanistan.
