Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has declared that the state government will extend Rs 5 lakh accident insurance coverage to gig workers, encompassing those engaged in food delivery, cab driving, and autorickshaw services.

During a meeting with cab and autorickshaw drivers, as well as food delivery executives in Hyderabad, the chief minister assured gig workers of Rs 10 lakh health coverage under the 'Rajiv Arogyasri' scheme, according to an official release on Saturday. He emphasized the government's commitment to providing social security to workers in the unorganized sectors and outlined plans for a policy decision in this regard.

Revanth Reddy pledged to examine the existing policy for gig workers in Rajasthan and proposed the introduction of an effective law during the upcoming state budget session, as per the release. Additionally, he announced Rs 2 lakh financial assistance for the family of a food delivery executive who tragically lost his life four months ago after falling from a building.

To facilitate the process, the chief minister advised cab and autorickshaw drivers, as well as food delivery executives, to submit their applications either online or physically in the Grama Sabhas scheduled from December 28 to January 6, the release stated.
