Bhopal: Today is Pingali Venkayya Jayanti, who was born on this day i.e. 2nd August 1876. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has bowed to him on his birth anniversary today. You can see MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted and wrote: "You will always be remembered for your distinguished contribution to the mahayagya of Rashtra Seva and your unique work on the birth anniversary of Pingali Venkayya, the revered poet of the tricolour, who has shaped the concept of the national flag and unites the whole of India.''

Apart from him, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra also tweeted. In a tweet, he said, "Victorious world tricolor beloved, flag stays high" Regards on the birth anniversary of Shri Pingali Venkaiah ji, scholar and agricultural scientist who united the diversity of India by designing the national flag tricolor.

Pingali Venkayya was born in a small village in Andhra Pradesh. His father's name was Hanumantarayudu and his mother's name was Venkataratnamma. The family belonged to the Telugu Brahmin clan Niyogi. Pingali Venkayya joined the Pingali British Army when he was 19, although he had to join the service of the country. WhenPingali Venkayya met Mahatma Gandhi in South Africa, he was so impressed with him that he returned to India to live with him forever. After that Pingali Venkayya made a significant contribution to the freedom struggle.
