Lucknow: The fifth Yoga Day is being celebrated across the globe today. On the occasion of International Yoga Day on Friday (21st June), Governor Ram Naik, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CM Dr. Dinesh Sharma and other ministers and senior officials along with DGP Om Prakash Singh and Mayor of Lucknow, J.P. Bhatia, were present at the Raj Bhavan in Lucknow, the capital of UP. Thousands of people, including those who practiced yoga.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Yogi said that in fact our sage tradition can only take us forward and yoga is an integral part of our sage tradition. Human beings are made for life yoga, not for disease. He said, "I thank PM Modiji for bringing the offerings of the Rishi tradition to the masses and bringing Indian culture and faith to a new identity in international fora.

On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, yoga camps were held in 11 identified parks including Raj Bhavan in the capital on Friday. The main event of Yoga Day is the Begum Hazrat Mahal Park near Raj Bhavan Complex as well as Change Chowk, Buddha Park near Daliganj Bridge, Nibu Park near Bada Imambara, Rajaram Pal Park near Kaiserbagh Baradari, Dr. S.K. The Kargil Shaheed Park near Bandhu Park, Residency, Flagwala Park of Aminabad, Ram Manohar Lohia Park of Gomti Nagar, Janeshwar Mishra Park and Green Park were in the prolific section.
