Gosaiganj (Arjunganj): A tragic accident occurred in a vehicle belonging to the convoy of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday night. Two people have died and 11 people have been injured in the accident. The injured include 5 policemen and 6 civilians.
The accident happened in Arjunganj of Gosaiganj. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was traveling with his convoy when the anti-demo vehicle that was inspecting the road ahead of his fleet met with an accident and overturned. According to the information, this accident happened after colliding with a dead animal lying on the road. Five policemen traveling in an anti-demo vehicle and six civilians who were standing on the roadside were injured after being hit by the vehicle.
As soon as information about the accident was received, DGP Prashant Kumar along with many other officers also reached the Civil Hospital. The injured were first admitted to the Civil Hospital, from where they were shifted to other hospitals. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured and to provide proper treatment.
A statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office regarding the accident said:
This accident also raises questions on the security arrangements of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The job of the anti-demo vehicle is to secure the path of the Chief Minister, but in the accident, many people were injured when this vehicle overturned. After the accident, the police has started investigating the matter. Police are trying to find out how the accident happened and who is responsible for it. This accident once again highlights the issue of road safety. Road accidents have become a big problem in India. Every year thousands of people lose their lives in road accidents. The government needs to take concrete steps for road safety.
