Coimbatore car blast case: NIA files charge sheet against 6 people, accused linked to ISIS

Chennai: The NIA filed a charge sheet against six people on Thursday in the Coimbatore car blast case. The NIA has said that the main suspect in this attack was highly inspired by the terrorist organisation Islamic State (ISIS). Let us tell you that last year, on October 23, this blast took place in front of the Sangameshwar temple in Coimbatore. Jamesha Mubeen was killed in this attack.

The investigating agency took over the investigation of the matter on October 27, 2022. The investigation revealed that the main accused in the attack, Mubeen, was a staunch supporter of ISIS. He was also deeply inspired by the statements of the self-proclaimed Caliph Abu-al-Hasan al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi. The NIA had registered cases against Mubeen's six associates, Mohd Asrutin, Mohd Talha, Firoz, Mohd Riyas, Nawas, and Afsar Khan, under sections of UAPA, IPC, and the Explosives Act.

The NIA has said that these six people helped Mubeen carry out the attack. A Maruti 800 car was used by Mohammad Talha to carry out the attack. The registration number of the car was TN-01-F-6163. The investigating agency has informed that during the investigation it was found that Feros, Riyas, and Navas had loaded explosives, gas cylinders, etc. in the car. At the same time, Asrutin and Afsar did the work of buying, mixing, and packing the chemical.
