New Delhi: Cold wave conditions are affecting many parts of India due to snowfall in hilly regions of the country. In view of this, the Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday that cold wave conditions are likely to return to the northwest plains and parts of north India later this week. IMD officials said punjab, haryana, delhi, chandigarh and up may witness dense fog in the morning in the next 4-5 days. With this, the minimum temperature in north-west India may drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
IMD said heavy rainfall is expected at many places in Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Sikkim till January 14. Odisha and Telangana are likely to receive heavy rainfall on Thursday. In addition, Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Puducherry, Kerala and Mahe may be splattered with thunder by the end of this week. According to IMD, the minimum temperature in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh will come down by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius over the next two days. Eastern India will also have a minimum temperature rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius.
The same is also expected to rain in most parts of Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan amid cold and fog. IMD has predicted fog in Delhi this entire week. According to IMD, dense fog will remain on 12th and 13th Janarwari. The maximum temperature on Wednesday will be around 19 and the minimum mercury will be around 8 degrees Celsius.
