New Delhi: Stand-up comedian Munavwar Farooqi, who is guilty of hurting religious sentiments, is facing increasing woes. The organizers of Gurugram Comedy Festival have removed Munavwar Farooqi from the list of artists citing public safety. The organizers have informed that they have received several phone calls in the last 2 days. It also opposed Farooqi's participation in the 3-day festival.

Mubeen Tisekar, co-founder of The Entertainment Factory, which organized the event, has said that we did not want to hurt anyone's feelings, so we have removed him from the panel. For us, the safety of artists and the public is a priority. We are getting calls from many people. Mubeen has refused to divulge the names of the callers. According to information received so far, Haryana chief of the BJP's IT Ministry Arun Yadav on Monday registered a police case against Farooqui over the programme.

It is alleged that they have insulted Hindu deities. Yadav wrote in the complaint that in order to maintain peace and harmony among different sections of the society, I am requesting you to look into the case and stop them. Their activities have hurt Hinduism. He continued, saying that He had earlier posted on Twitter on December 4, saying that his show was not going to be allowed in Gurugram or other places. I have filed a case with ACP Sohna. ACP Sadar has said that a complaint has been received against Farooqui. Objections are being raised about their participation in an event to be held in Gurugram and the online content of some of their videos.
