Gold prices in the national capital rose by Rs.144 to Rs.48,167 per 10 grammes on February 8, mirroring overnight advances in international precious metal prices, according to HDFC Securities

The precious metal finished at Rs.48,023 per 10 gram in the preceding trade. Silver, on the other hand, fell by Rs.76 per kilogramme to Rs.61,607 per kilogramme, down from Rs.61,683 per kilogramme in the previous transaction.

"Spot gold prices for 24 carat gold increased by Rs.144 in Delhi, mirroring an overnight increase in COMEX gold prices.

Gold was slightly down at USD 1,819 per ounce on the international market, while silver was unchanged at USD 22.85 per ounce. "Gold prices were modestly down on Tuesday, with spot prices on the COMEX trading at USD 1,819 per ounce," analyst noted.

At stock market front, BSE Sensex settled the day 187.39 points or 0.33 percent higher at 57,808.58, while the wider NSE Nifty ended the day 53.15 points or 0.31 percent higher at 17,266.75.
