Bangalore: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court amidst the ongoing hijab controversy in Karnataka. The petition has sought the implementation of the Common Dress Code in educational institutions across the country. The petitioner said that the implementation of the Common Dress Code will help in reducing the violence to a great extent. Not only this, but this initiative will also see many positive changes in the education environment.

A student named Nikhil Upadhyay has filed a petition in the top court regarding the Common Dress Code. "A uniform dress code is necessary not only to enhance the values of equality, social justice, democracy, but also to create a just and humane society," Upadhyay said in his petition.

Upadhyay further said, "The role of universal education in strengthening the social fabric of democracy through the provisions of equal opportunity for all has been acknowledged since the establishment of our republic. The general dress code not only reduces violence but also encourages a positive educational environment. It also reduces other aspects of violence caused by socio-economic differences."
