Kolkata: Former Indian cricket captain Saurabh Ganguly has been very vocal on the conflicting rule of interest. On the notice received by Dravid, he had criticized the board. He said the rule of conflict of interest should be practical. Ganguly said Ponting is also associated with Australian cricket with IPL.

Ganguly along with Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and VVS Laxman was also given notice of conflict of interest due to their involvement with Cricket Association Bengal (CAB) president and IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils. Saurabh Ganguly was asked if there should be some exception to the rules for the sporting giants.

"I would not say that there should be some exceptions in the rules but the rules should be practical. Dravid has been made the Chairman of the NCA and there was a confrontation with India Cements over his appointment. You have to be practical in such matters. You don't know in advance whether you will become the NCA chief or not."

When you do commentary or coaching, I don't think it is an issue of conflict of interest. When you look at the whole world, look at Ponting. He is Australia's coach, making a commentary in the Ashes and will be with the Delhi Capitals in April next year. I don't consider it a conflict of interest because it is a work of all skill. It is not your decision to comment, coaching or joining a franchise. You are chosen because of your skills.'
