New Delhi: Amid the political turmoil over the proposed assembly elections in five states of the country, the Congress is facing setbacks one after the other, with the biggest blow to former Union minister RPN Singh who switched over to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) despite being the party's star campaigner. Amidst these setbacks and ahead of the start of the Budget Session, the Congress has convened a big meeting of the Parliamentary Strategy Group on Friday.

In Uttar Pradesh, a meeting of the Congress's parliamentary strategy group, which is trying to return to power, will be held on Friday, which will be led by the party's interim president Sonia Gandhi. Former PMs Manmohan Singh, AK Antony, KC Venugopal, Mallikarjun Kharge, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Anand Sharma, Gaurav Gogoi, K Suresh, Jairam Ramesh, Manickam Tagore and Ravneet Bittu will also be present in the meeting.

Regarding the meeting, it has been clarified by the party that such meetings are convened before each session of Parliament to decide on the parliamentary strategy of the Congress. Let us know that in the midst of the assembly elections, the budget session of Parliament is going to start next week on January 31, the next day of which the country's general budget will be presented on February 1.
