NEW DELHI:  Ajay Maken, General Secretary of the Congress, has said that the Congress will hold a Satyagraha at Jantar Mantar on Monday to demand that the President withdraw the Agnipath recruitment scheme.

"We will sit on Satyagraha at Jantar Mantar today, and in the evening at 5 p.m., we'll meet with the President and demand that the Agnipath scheme be withdrawn," said Ajay Maken of the Congress.  Before implementing the scheme, he said it should be discussed with the youth. "The scheme should be discussed with youth and in Parliament first, but it should be withdrawn before that," he added.

On Monday, Congress workers across the country will hold "peaceful" protests against the "anti-youth" Agnipath scheme and the central government's "vendetta politics" against party leader Rahul Gandhi, who is being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case.  "We will also inform the President about how our MP was harassed and how the ED is being abused," Ajay Maken added.

During a protest against the ED's investigation into Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case, Congress MP S Jothimani was allegedly beaten up by Delhi Police.

"The police broke down the gate and entered the AICC. Rahul Gandhi has been interrogated for more than 30 hours, and we are under undue pressure. Pressure is being created by the ED and the police. In the last few years, the ED has handled 5422 cases, with 5310 of them filed during the Modi administration's eight years in office "He said.
