New Delhi: The political turmoil that started in the Congress over the post of president has not stopped yet. The party's high command is trying to resolve the dispute at the earliest. Rajasthan Congress observers Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken on Tuesday submitted their written reports to party interim president Sonia Gandhi on the ongoing crisis in the Rajasthan Congress unit. Sources have said that on the basis of this report, steps can be taken towards action against some leaders considered loyal to CM Ashok Gehlot for indiscipline.

If this happens, then Ashok Gehlot will be out of the race for the post of Congress President. The names of Digvijay Singh, Mukul Wasnik, Mallikarjun Kharge and Kamal Nath can be pushed for this post. At present, many big leaders of Congress are involved in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. People familiar with the matter said that in case Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot was out of the race, the names of some big leaders were churned out. Veteran leaders like Kamal Nath, Mukul Wasnik, Mallikarjun Kharge or Digvijaya Singh could be contenders for the post of Congress president, a Congress leader said. In fact, in view of the developments in Rajasthan, it is believed that Gehlot wanted to keep laddoos in both hands. He also wanted to become the national president of the Congress and also wanted to keep the post of Rajasthan CM with himself.

Kamal Nath, who met Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Monday, has asserted that he is not interested in the post. According to media reports, Ashok Gehlot will no longer be a candidate for the post of Congress president, even if he contests the election, he will not get the support of the Gandhi family. Gehlot has now lost his credibility with what has happened in the Rajasthan Congress unit. His attitude in the party has been considered a direct challenge to the Gandhi family. A second Congress leader said an alternative candidate must be from north India, which is the main battleground between the BJP and the Congress.
