But in all these cases, the Avdhesh Rai murder case is the biggest and biggest punishment case. In which the life of 4 accused including Mukhtar Ansari will be decided. On August 3, 1991, Congress leader Awadhesh Rai, a resident of Lahurabir area of Chetganj police station area of Varanasi, was standing outside the house with his brother Ajay Rai. It was early morning. It was raining lightly. Then the miscreants who came from a Maruti van suddenly opened fire  on them. Avdhesh Rai, who was injured in the firing, was taken to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased's brother Ajay Rai had lodged an FIR at Chetganj police station against Mukhtar Ansari, Bhim Singh, Kamlesh Singh, Rakesh along with former MLA Abdul Kalam.
