Mumbai: Uddhav Thackeray government in Maharashtra has announced to change the name of 'Aurangabad' city to Sambhajinagar. This step of the government is opposing by its partner party Congress. Senior Congress leader and minister in the Uddhav government, Balasaheb Thorat has once again reiterated that his party opposes the decision to rename Aurangabad city.

Talking to a private news channel on this issue, Minister Bala Saheb Thorat said that the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra was not formed by a single party. The three coalition partners have the responsibility of running the government. It is a government formed by three parties. There is no mention of changing the names of places in our Common Minimum Program. Congress leader Thorat also said that the party feels that the progress and development of the people cannot be changed by changing the name.

However, he dismissed the allegations by BJP leaders that there was a rift between the coalition partners. Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray requested the Central Government to issue a notification to rename Aurangabad Airport on December 6 in the name of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
