Bengaluru: The police have arrested the nephew of the Congress MLA after the violence erupted in several areas of Karnataka's capital, Bengaluru, on Tuesday night over an objectionable Facebook post. According to the information received, the nephew of Congress MLA Srinivas Murthy allegedly shared a provocative post on Facebook about Prophet Mohammed, as soon as the post went viral, people of the outraged minority sect attacked the MLA's residence.

The raging mob also set fire to the MLA's residence and vehicles after stone-pelting. The mob also attacked the police with stones. To control the situation, the police opened fire, in which two people lost their lives. The police have arrested the nephew of the MLA. An FIR has been registered against him in several sections.

This case is of North Bengaluru. According to the report, Naveen, Nephew of Congress MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy from Pulakeshi Nagar assembly seat, allegedly shared a derogatory post on Social Media. After this post went viral, members of the minority community gathered at one place and threw stones at the residence of Congress MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy. Congestion also pelted stones at the police station. Apart from this, many trains were set on fire. The police was attacked with stones and glass bottles.

The Commissioner of Police Kamal Pant has told the media that two people have died in the police firing. Sixty policemen, including the Additional Commissioner of Police, have been injured in the violence. Section 144 of IPC has been imposed in Bengaluru. So far 110 people have been arrested in this case. After this inflammatory violence, curfew has been imposed in the area of DJ Halli and KG Halli police station.
