NEW DELHI: Hundreds of Congress workers protested at several locations around the national capital on Wednesday after party leader Rahul Gandhi was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate for the third day in a row.

Soon after Gandhi arrived at the ED office on Abdul Kalam Road in the city, the sloganeering and large protest began. In and around the Congress headquarters and the Enforcement Directorate building, there was a large police presence.

To avert any unpleasant incidents, a large number of police officers, as well as paramilitary and rapid action force units, were deployed at different locations.

The police were forced to hold several party workers, including women, as a preventative measure. The cops were seen snatching Congress workers from in front of the barricades and loading them into their van.

Furious party workers also set fire to two tyres outside the ED office to show their displeasure with the police's attempt to stifle their voice.

The party leaders claimed that the police are harassing them and not allowing them to even protest against the government. Deepender Singh Hooda, the party's leader, said that the Delhi Police had sealed his home and refused to let him visit his own headquarters.
