New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has denounced the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) questioning of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling it an "outrageous act of political vendetta."

"I condemn the ruling BJP government's use of the Enforcement Directorate to carry out an atrocious act of political vendetta against the Congress party and its leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi," Stalin wrote.

He took a jab at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying the two parties should spar politically rather than 'force ED'. "Because it has no answers to the common man's pressing challenges, the BJP resorts to such diversionary techniques to avoid popular wrath. Political opponents should be dealt with on a political level, not by  'forcing' the Enforcement Directorate to do so "In another tweet, he stated.

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, left the ED office in Delhi on Tuesday following the second day of interrogation in the National Herald case. He has been summoned for the third day of questioning.

Official sources said the former Congress president, who became a Z+ category Central Reserve Police Force protectee after the Union government revoked the Gandhi family's Special Protection Group cover in 2019, was asked to join the investigation again after investigators were dissatisfied with his answers during questioning on Monday.
