NEW DELHI: The Congress, who opposed to the withdrawal of special statehood from Jammu and Kashmir and the abolition of Section 370, is showing disintegration over the matter. While veteran Congress leader and Sonia Gandhi's close aide Janardan Dwivedi has lauded the Modi government's move, Congress MLA Aditi Singh from Rae Bareli Sadar seat has also come out openly in support of the Modi government on the issue. She has lauded it as a big step.

Congress MLA Aditi Singh tweeted, "We stand together! Jai Hind 370. However, a social media user wrote on her post that you are a Congressman, and in response, Aditi said, "I am an Indian" Meanwhile, Janardhan Dwivedi, a veteran Congress leader and known to be very close to Sonia Gandhi, welcomed the decision of the Centre. "My political guru Ram Manohar Lohia was always opposed to this article. Even though late right, history has been a mistake right now. I welcome it," he said.

Several other Congress leaders are also supporting the removal of Section 370. Congress working committee member Deepender Hooda welcomed the decision to remove Section 370. In one of his tweets, he wrote: "My personal opinion is that Article 370 in the 21st century is not justified and should be removed. It is not only for the integrity of the country but also in the interest of Jammu and Kashmir which is an integral part of our country. Now it is the responsibility of the government to implement it in an atmosphere of peace and confidence."
