New Delhi: The Congress is currently going through its worst phase. In the recently held assembly elections in five states where it has suffered a humiliating defeat. At the same time, its scope in the Rajya Sabha is also constantly shrinking. The bad news for the Congress is that after the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, its number in the upper house of Parliament will be reduced further. At the same time, the geographical graph of the Congress is also falling rapidly. Now there will be no congress representative in the Rajya Sabha from 17 states and union territories. 

Last month, at the end of March, the Congress had 33 MPs in the Rajya Sabha. But now four members, including A K Antony, have retired. While in June and July, the term of 9 more members will end. It also includes big names like P Chidambaram, Ambika Soni, Jairam Ramesh and Kapil Sibal. Experts say that after the elections, the Congress will be left with a maximum of 30 members in the Rajya Sabha. It is worth mentioning that till date it has never happened that the Congress has had so few MPs in the Rajya Sabha. By the way, the Congress is hopeful that out of the six seats in Tamil Nadu, the DMK will give it one seat. After this, the number of Congress members will increase to 31. However, the party will not have any Rajya Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Delhi and Goa.

According to experts, the Congress is going to suffer a lot in 17 states. After the elections, there will be no Rajya Sabha members of the Congress from many big states. These include Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Losing power in Punjab has also caused a lot of damage to the Congress. Similarly, congress does not have any mp in the Lok Sabha from Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
