Bangalore: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) -led government of Karnataka passed the anti-cow slaughter bill in the state assembly on Wednesday. However, Congress strongly opposed it. Congress alleges that the bill was not debated in the Business Advisory Committee meeting. Congress opposition will continue on Thursday. The party will boycott the proceedings of the assembly today.

The veteran Congress leader and former CM Siddaramaiah said that Congress will boycott the proceedings of the assembly against the anti-democratic work. The bill against cow slaughter was passed without any discussion. Siddaramaiah further said that BS Yeddyurappa in the Business Advisory Committee had said that no new bill will be introduced in the Assembly. The anti-cow slaughter bill was also not on Wednesday's agenda. Suddenly, the bill was introduced and passed without any discussion. This is a murder of democracy.

In the bill passed in the name of Karnataka Cow Slaughter Prevention and Cattle Protection Bill 2020, there has been a complete ban on killing, smuggling, illegal transport and torture of cows in the state. There is a provision of strict punishment on those who kill cows.
