New Delhi: Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi has been asked by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear before it for questioning on July 21. It is reported that on this occasion, Congress is again in the process of a major protest. The ED has summoned Sonia for questioning in a money laundering case related to the National Herald case. Earlier, the ED has also questioned former party president Rahul Gandhi for a long time. During that time, Congress workers and leaders created a ruckus on the streets.

In the party's meeting held on Wednesday, it has been decided to hold protests across the country. Talking to the media, senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said, "Congress President Sonia Gandhi is a lioness. She's not afraid of these things. She has seen many such things. She will go to the ED office and face this government.'' Let us know that the investigating agency has already questioned Kharge and Pawan Bansal in this case. The probe agency had also questioned Rahul Gandhi for about five days in June. During that time, party workers and senior leaders strongly opposed the questioning and accused the BJP-led central government of vendetta. Party workers had also protested against the action taken by Delhi Police officials.

The ED quoted sources as saying that the party is also preparing to distribute pamphlets in the National Herald case. It is reported that the ED has asked Sonia to appear before it at 11 am on July 21. Earlier also, Sonia was summoned on June 8, but due to a corona infection, she was admitted to the hospital during that time. In fact, the investigating agency wants to record the statements of Sonia and Rahul under sections of the PMLA.  At present, the investigating agency is probing the shareholding pattern and financial transactions in the case as well as the role of party functionaries in the functioning of Associated Journals Limited (AJL) and Young India Private Limited (YIL).
