New Delhi: The Congress party is likely to get a new national president soon. A meeting of the Congress Working Committee is proposed on Saturday. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. The main agenda of the meeting is to select the Congress president. According to sources, the interim president of the Congress is likely to be announced at the CWC meeting. Congress leader and Rajasthan Deputy CM Sachin Pilot has said that all the response in the matter will be known on Saturday.
In fact, Rahul Gandhi resigned as president after a bitter defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. Since then, the Congress has not been able to find the right person for its presidency. Mukul Wasnik, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sushil Kumar Shinde are leading the race with the party's new president. "Congress leaders also want a decision to be taken as soon as possible.
On the other hand, senior party leader and Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh had earlier said that the responsibility of the party president was given to a young leader. However, he later advocated the appointment of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress party's national general secretary and Rahul Gandhi's sister.
