Congress-Led Govt Organizes Mega Job Fair in Bangalore Ahead of Elections

In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Congress-led state government is organizing a significant job fair in Bangalore next week. Scheduled for February 26 and 27 at the Palace Grounds, the event aims to tackle the issue of unemployment while showcasing the government's efforts to address it.

Named the "Yuva Samruddhi Sammelana," the job fair has already attracted around 31,000 young people from across the state, with more expected to register, according to Skill Development Minister Sharan Prakash Patil and IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge.

The event, organized by the Skills Development & Livelihood department, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar. It closely follows the recent launch of the "Yuva Nidhi" scheme, one of the five key promises made by the Congress party, offering a monthly stipend of Rs 3000 for graduates and Rs 1500 for diploma holders, announced by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the assembly election campaign.

Over 500 national and multinational companies are set to participate, offering around one lakh job vacancies. According to Patil, this fair provides an excellent opportunity for youth to find jobs suited to their qualifications and skills.

The fair targets graduates, engineers, diploma holders, and individuals with job-oriented training. Enrolled candidates will receive notifications to visit stalls and explore suitable job opportunities. Even those who don't secure immediate employment will be offered skills training by the government to enhance their job prospects.

Approximately 600 stalls will be set up for candidates to explore potential opportunities. Private company representatives and experts will be available to provide guidance and information.

Patil emphasized the uniqueness of such a large-scale job fair, giving credit to the Chief Minister for the initiative. He urged candidates to participate actively, as the success of their efforts depends on widespread participation and job placements.

Kharge highlighted Karnataka's strengths, citing its infrastructure and skilled workforce as reasons why major companies choose to operate in the state. He emphasized the government's commitment not only to providing jobs but also to imparting skills through training centers.

"We will endeavor to fulfill the aspirations of those who have registered for the fair by assisting them in securing suitable employment," Kharge added, noting the significant growth in IT companies during the UPA regime at the Centre.
