Guwahati: Corona cases are on the rise across the country. Meanwhile, the Assam government on Tuesday said it will vaccinate all people free of cost for 18 to 45 years. Assam Health Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma said " Funds raised in the Assam Arogya Nidhi last year will be used to buy the vaccine. We have ordered 1 crore doses to Bharat Biotech today".
However, before Assam, the Yogi government in UP has also announced free vaccines for people above the age of 18 years in its state. CM Yogi Adityanath announced this by holding a virtual meeting with state ministers on Tuesday. CM Yogi said the government will provide free vaccines to people above the age of 18 years in Uttar Pradesh from May 1. All the Ministers congratulated PM Modi for introducing vaccination for people above the age of 18 years.
CM Yogi said "We have decided to get free immunization of people aged 18 years and above. The State Government will take the immunization program beyond its own resources. The state government is working with the target of saving both life and livelihood even in this wave of corona. All the Ministers in charge should monitor the status of corona treatment in the district in charge of their own and guide the local administration".
