Mumbai: Corona virus infection has now reached the slums of cities, after which it can take a terrible form. In such a situation, it will be difficult to maintain social distance now. It has been reported that this infection has now reached the slums and chawls of Mumbai. These huts and chawls are so dense that it is not possible to get social distance. Within a week, four cases have been reported from here.

Actually, social distance is not only a useless concept for slums and chawls but it is also not physically possible here. In slums, in most cases tin sheets are kept together and their residents use community toilets. The Chawls also have common toilets and their 8X10 rooms normally house up to six people. As far as infectious diseases are concerned, it has also been a challenge for health workers.

The 37-year-old man who was found corona positive in Kalimba's Jambalipada slum was a waiter in Italy. The slum has about 800 houses and fewer than a hundred toilet seats. This person was checked at the airport but no signs of corona were found in him then. When he became ill he went to a local doctor. From here he was brought to Kasturba Hospital, where his test report was negative. Due to deteriorating condition, he was tested again at Kasturba Hospital and then his report came back positive.
