Pak court adjourns hearing against Hafiz Saeed in wake of coronavirus

Lahore: The sudden outbreak of Corona has been taking the form of an epidemic for the whole world today. The same virus killed 134000 people so far. The coronavirus epidemic has also affected the ongoing trial in a Pakistani court against international terrorist Hafiz Saeed. The court has adjourned the hearing of four cases of terrorist funding related to Saeed indefinitely. Along with declaring Saeed an international terrorist, the US had placed a reward of 10 million dollars (about Rs 70 crore) on him.

In February this year, the court sentenced him to 11 years imprisonment in a terrorist funding case. Saeed, 70, was arrested in the High Security Kot Lakhpat Jail after he was arrested on July 17 last year. A court official said on Wednesday, "Four cases related to terrorist funding in the Anti-Terrorist Court of Lahore due to the outbreak of Coronavirus The trial of the accused Jamaat-ud Dawah leader Hafiz Saeed and others is not being heard for the last one month.

The court has adjourned the hearing of cases indefinitely. There is a possibility that the hearing will resume after the coronavirus outbreak. The Anti-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Pakistan's Punjab province has registered 23 cases against Saeed related to terrorist funding in various cities. He is also accused of a terrorist attack in Mumbai in the year 2008, in which 166 people died.
