In the current financial year till January, Rs 1,632.85 crore had been spent. So much money has been spent on the CISF personnel deployed in the security of various airports. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri gave this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Currently, CISF is deployed in security at 62 airports in the country. The Union Minister also said that till January this year, Rs 1,964.32 had been collected as aviation security fee (ASF). Every passenger is charged at the ASF airport, but in some cases discounts are also given.

For your information, let us tell you that the Air Force has adopted two strategies to meet the shortage of fighter jets. This includes modernizing the existing jet and adding new ones to the fleet. In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Defense Shripad Naik said that the Air Force has tied up with Hindustan Aeronautics for 40 light combat aircraft MK1. Out of these, 16 aircraft have been found. The Air Force is in the process of purchasing 83 additional light combat aircraft Mk 1A. The process of agreement for this is in progress.

The government has taken several steps to reduce tension among the soldiers. Creating a comprehensive mental health program is one of those steps. Minister of State for Defense Naik said that it was only in September 2008 that a mental health program for the armed forces was prepared. This program is effective from 2009.
