The Finance Department had issued a mandate on April 24 about the postponement of these six allowances for the current financial year.

The city compensation allowance is given to all the state employees and teachers posted in cities with a population of one lakh or more. Closing it will affect the state employees the most. There are 16 lakh state employee-teachers in the state. At present, the state employees were being given city compensation allowance ranging from 250 to 900 rupees per month according to the categories of cities.
