New Delhi: The protests of CAA and NRC, which have been steadily increasing for the past several days, have now come to a standstill. At the same time, a link to the terrorist organization ISIS has come out in the national capital's opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). A special cell of the Delhi Police raided Jamia Nagar in Okhla area on Sunday and arrested a couple of J&K natives who were in touch with the Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISKP), an active module of IS in Afghanistan. He was preparing to carry out any major suicide attack in the country. Both were constantly tricking the youth of Shaheen Bagh and Jamia area on the pretext of the CAA protest. The Delhi Police has started a search operation based on the information received from both of them.

According to DCP Pramod Singh Kushwaha of Special Cell of Delhi Police, the accused couple has been identified as Jeb Sami and his wife Hina Bashir Baig. Both of them reached Delhi in August from Srinagar at the end of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir last year. It is also being said that the police team has recovered electronic equipment, inflammatory books and other objectionable material promoting jihadi ideas from them. Kushwaha said that both were active in anti-CAA protests of Shaheen Bagh and Jamia for three months. Both of them used to incite the protesters in the name of Jihad to prolong the CAA protest.

Sami and Hina were constantly in touch with senior ISKP members in Afghanistan through social media and WhatsApp calling. It is also being said that Sami was also in contact with Huzaifa Baqistani of Khorasan, who called himself Amir of Wilaya Hind, who has now been killed. Apart from this, Sami also said during interrogation that he also played an active role in the circulation of IS's 'Saat al-Hind (Voice of India) magazine' February issue.
