BEIJING: During an argument with her husband, a Chinese woman in Beijing punched a Labrador through the window of a fourth-floor apartment, injuring the dog and causing a national uproar on the mainland.

A failed attempt to push the Labrador out of the window was captured by lychee video with the latter falling in a viral video.

According to the video's narrator Yang, who is also a neighbour, the couple, who live on the fourth floor, allegedly had a fight last Sunday, during which the family dog was pushed in the direction of the window.

The Labrador was on the sill of the window when the woman tried to get the dog out, but her husband stopped her.

Sadly, the woman was successful in her second attempt and managed to push the dog out of the window. The dog was injured after falling on the car below.

According to Yang, more than an hour had passed while the dog was still on the ground.
It took the couple more than an hour to arrive to examine their Labrador, and they did so only after being provoked by the car's owner.

The car owner did not demand payment for the damaged vehicle, but instead advised the couple to take their injured dog to the vet, which they did.

The dog later recovered from his wounds and seems to be in good health.

After witnessing the violence, Yang decided to contact the couple and file the adoption paperwork.
I asked them to sign the paperwork and approve the adoption, after explaining that they should no longer keep the dog, according to Yang.

More than 11,000 Weibo users commented on the news article, with many criticizing the couple for their cruelty. Neighbors and car owners were also praised for their generosity.

How clever are men and women. They are both cruel and heartless. They are animals and should not be treated like humans, wrote one person.

Another person said, "Thanks to the neighbor, I hope the lovely dog has a lovely home."

A man recently adopted a Labrador from a woman and then tried to extort 5,000 yuan (US$725) from her by threatening to kill the animal for its meat. This case of animal cruelty recently made headlines in China.

China has a law that came into force in 1988 to protect wild animals, but there is no national law that prohibits the abuse of other animals, including pets.
