New Delhi: A vaccine made from an inactive virus is going to provide protection against covid infection for at least 6 months. Pushkar Sharma, Director-in-charge, National Institute of Immunology (NII) has said so. Pushkar Sharma is likely to address the annual general meeting of the Society of NII on Sunday. Further, he has said that the immune system of the vaccine takes into account the covid epidemic-causing virus SARS-COV-2 and its variant of concern and immediately activates and eliminates the virus when it enters the body. Union Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh presided over the General Assembly.

Sharma has said that special efforts were made to research the anti-covid vaccine in times of crisis. He has said that the inactive virus vaccine Covaxin produces strong immunity against SARS-COV-2 and its delta, alpha, beta and gamma variants which last for at least 6 months. So far, 96 countries around the world have recognized India's vaccine. Countries around the world have approved Indian Covid Vaccination Certificate.

The 96 recognised countries include Canada, Belgium, Germany, USA, UK, France, Ireland, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Spain, Mali, Angola, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Hungary, Nigeria, Benin, Chad, Serbia, Poland, Slovak Republic. In addition, Guyana on this list, The names of Antigua and Barbuda, Mexico, Nicaragua Panama, Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Colombia, The Commonwealth of Dominica, Lebanon, El Salvador, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Guatemala Haiti, Nepal, Iran, State Palestine, Syria, Tunisia South Sudan, Australia, Sudan, Egypt, Mongolia and the Philippines are also present.
