Covid Roundup: India registers 14,348 COVID-19 new cases in last 24-hrs

India has reported 14,348 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The active caseload in India now stands at 1,61,334. Active cases make up less than 1 percent of total cases.

In the last 24 hours, the country added 13,198 new recoveries, bringing the recovery rate to 98.19 percent. Over 60.58 crore COVID-19 tests have been performed in India so far. Meanwhile, the Nationwide Vaccination Drive has resulted in the administration of over 104.82 crore vaccine doses. The daily climb in new coronavirus infections has been below 30,000 for 34 consecutive days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 123 straight days now. The active cases comprise 0.47 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.20 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the health ministry said.

Kerala Corona declines: According to Kerala's state media bulletin, a total of 93 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours and 529 backlog cases were added to the tally. The State government has been continuously speeding up the vaccination drive across the states and considerable declines in cases are being reported.
