NEW DELHI: India's daily coronavirus tally falls  below 10,000-mark with 9,111 new cases in 24 hours.

The covid tally in the country was recorded at 44,827,226, the data showed. The count of active cases now comprises 0.13 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.68 percent, as per the health ministry website.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease has surged to 44,23,57,72, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 percent, the data showed. On the vaccine front, 220.66 crore doses of vaccines have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.

Meanwhile, Indian Medical Association (IMA) has advised citizens not to panic amid rising Covid cases, saying that they should maintain proper hygiene.

Earlier, a total of 10,753 new COVID cases were recorded in India till Sunday. Amid the recent upsurge in Covid cases, medical experts have warned that the new XBB1.16 variant is able to evade the immune system of the people and the upcoming four weeks are very crucial.
