CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu health department will administer Covaxin to 33.2 lakh children from January 3. The vaccine will be given to all of the youngsters in accordance with ICMR protocols, according to a statement from the state Public Health Department.

Medical centres will be held on school grounds, or parents can send their children to a nearby primary health centre where Covaxin will be available. According to the report, the government has given the children's group first priority because they are at high risk of returning home with the virus.

The department has directed schools to appoint a teacher as liaison officer to provide the 15-18 age group details for immunisation as children born before 2007 are eligible for vaccination.

Children will be urged to motivate each other to get vaccinated, according to health department officials, and sufficient awareness will be conducted among children to have them immunised.
