New Delhi: Registration on the CoWin app for corona vaccination of children between the ages of 15 and 18 is set to begin today. Both walk-in and online registration options will be available for the immunization of children. The corona vaccination of this age group will start from January 3. According to government guidelines, people in this age group can book slots on CoWin app using their ID card from January 1. The head of The Covin Platform, Dr R.S. Sharma, had earlier stated that in addition to Aadhaar and other national identity cards, children can also use their 10th standard ID card for registration. PM Narendra Modi, through his address on December 25, 2021, announced that children between the ages of 15 and 18 will get the corona vaccine from January 3, 2022.
He had informed that in addition to children, healthcare workers, frontline warriors and people above the age of 60 years suffering from other serious diseases would be administered booster doses of the vaccine as a precautionary measure. The Prime Minister also said that the decision will not only strengthen the country's fight against corona infection but also reduce the concerns of children going to schools and colleges and their parents. According to the report, only Covaxin will be the option for immunization of children which means that children will be able to get only the Covaxin.
