Jammu: Around 13 people lost their lives in a stampede at Mata Vaishno Devi Temple Building (Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan) on the occasion of New Year. About 13 people are said to have been injured in the tragic incident. Relief and rescue operations are still underway and the visit of Mata Vaishno Devi has also been stopped, though the yatra has been restored later as the situation returned to normalcy. In this case, it is being reported that the incident took place around 2 pm in the building area of Katra. It's 45 o'clock. The incident took place near Gate No.3. In fact, it was the new year and a large number of people had gathered at the temple since evening.

In a small space, a large number of people were coming and going. Eyewitnesses say he also lost one of his acquaintances in the stampede, while one of his acquaintances suffered a fracture in his hand.

On the other hand, block medical officer Dr Gopal Dutt said the injured are being taken to Narayana Hospital. The total injured have also not been confirmed. He said, so far, many people have died and will be postponed in the accident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the incident. The Prime Minister's Relief Fund will provide compensation of 2 lakh rupees to the deceased and 50,000 rupees to the injured. On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha has termed the incident as tragic. He has asked for a committee to look into the matter. It has also announced 10 lakh rupees to the next of kin of those killed and 2 lakh rupees to the injured.
