New Delhi: India has seen 22,775 new cases of the novel coronavirus In the last 24 hours, with 406 deaths as a result of the infection. According to data released on Saturday by the Union Health Ministry, the country witnessed a total of 8,949 discharges in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to 98.32 percent, the highest since March 2020, and total recoveries data to 3,42,75,312.

In addition, the total number of Omicron cases has risen to 1,431 today, with 454 in Maharashtra and 351 in Delhi. According to government data released today, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 1,04,781. So far, the Nationwide Vaccination Drive has administered around 145.16 crore vaccine doses. The country's total death toll today stands at 4,81,486. The first death from the COVID epidemic was recorded in India in March 2020.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reports that 67,89,89,110 samples have been tested for COVID-19 as of December 31. On Friday, 11,10,855 of these samples were analysed.

Meanwhile, Kerala reported 2,676 new COVID-19 infections and 353 deaths on Friday, bringing the total number of cases to 52,35,348 and the number of deaths to 47,794. After hearing appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and the directives of the Supreme Court, 11 of the 353 fatalities were registered in the previous few days and 342 were designated as COVID-19 deaths.
