Mumbai: In view of the ever-increasing crisis of Corona in Maharashtra, discussions are going on to close the schools of the state. State Health Minister Rajesh Tope, putting an end to all kinds of speculations regarding this issue, has announced that schools in Maharashtra will not be closed for the time being. Schools will continue for now and vaccination of school children will also be started soon.

Schools in Maharashtra have reopened for students of classes 1 to 7 from December 01, 2021, after a decline in corona cases in the state. However, in the last 15 days, the situation has taken a turn and schools have been closed in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh. Since then, all eyes are on Maharashtra as the state is most affected by Omicron.

Health Minister Rajesh Tope has said that increasing the vaccination rate is the need of the hour and therefore the government is trying to focus its attention and resources on immunization of school students instead of closing the schools. Children who are in the age group of 15 to 18 years will be taken to the vaccination centres in separate batches. He said, “I urge everyone to avoid crowding and follow the guidelines to avoid infection. School students (15-18 years) should be taken to immunization centres in batches. This will result in higher vaccination rates. Schools will not be closed now."
