In this tweet, the BJP has quoted a verse written by Thiruvalluvar saying, "If they are abusing God and those who believe in God, then what is the benefit of such education?" Actually, the thing is that there is no real image of the poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar. Fictional paintings have been used to depict Thiruvalluvar, born two thousand years ago. But no religious symbol is usually used with the image of Thiruvalluvar.

Against this backdrop, when the BJP combined the image of Thiruvalluvar with Hindu symbols there was an uproar on social media and people started trending #bjpinsultsthiruvalluvar. After which some unknown people threw dung at the statue of Thiruvalluvar in Pillaiyarpatti area of Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu. Since then, villagers have been protesting in front of a statue.
