CPIM leader Sitaram Yechury's son Ashish dies of Corona

New Delhi: Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury tweeted that his eldest son Ashish Yechury passed away on Thursday morning. Sitaram has said that Ashish was infected with corona. In his tweet, Yechury thanked doctors, nurses, frontline health workers and sanitation workers who tried their best to improve his son's health.

According to media reports, Ashish was about to turn 35 on June 9. He was undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon and his health was improving. According to Ashish's family, he died at 5.30am on Thursday after a two-weeks struggle. The Congress tweeted its grief over Ashish's death. In its statement, the party said, "We are deeply saddened by the death of Ashish Yechury, son of Sitaram Yechury and Indrani Majumdar. The Politburo stands with Sitaram and Indrani, Ashish's wife Swati and their sister Akhila.''

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor tweeted his grief over Ashish's death. In his tweet, Shashi Tharoor wrote, "This is disturbing news. There can be no greater loss. May you be empowered in this hour of grief. My whole thoughts are with you.''
