Dehradun: Cases of land collapse are increasing in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. As of January 6, 603 houses have shown cracks. There are more than 100 such houses, which can collapse at any time. Of these, 44 families have been shifted to a safe place. According to the news received, incidents of cracks and landslides have been seen in at least 9 wards of Joshimath. Gandhinagar and Ravigram wards of Joshimath are the worst affected.  

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will conduct a survey of Joshimath at around 1 pm on Saturday and meet the affected people. The district administration has specified 229 rooms with a capacity of 1271 persons for the stay of the affected families. On Friday, CM Pushkar Dhami called a high-level meeting, in which strict instructions were given to the officers. According to the report, the Collector had said in the meeting that a large temporary rehabilitation center should be built in a safe place immediately. Sector and zonal-wise planning should be made in Joshimath. The danger zone should be immediately evacuated and the disaster control room should be activated, after which the officers have started taking action. The first major accident took place on Friday due to the Joshimath landslide. Bhagwati temple collapsed due to cracks in Singhdhar ward.

After the chief minister's meeting, the district administration has taken a big decision for the affected people of the Joshimath area. On the instructions of the CM, the administration has announced to pay rent to the affected families for 6 months. According to officials, those whose houses are under threat or are not habitable will be given an assistance of Rs 4000 per family to stay in a rented house for the next 6 months. This assistance will be provided by the CM Relief Fund.
