Shimla: Voting for the 68-member Himachal Pradesh Assembly began on Saturday (November 12). Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the voters of Himachal Pradesh to participate in the election process in the state. PM Modi has urged people to create a new record of voting.

All the 68 assembly seats in the hill state of Himachal Pradesh will go to polls on November 12. Polling began at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm. This time, 55,92,828 voters of the state will capture the political fate of 412 candidates in the electoral battle today. These include 24 women. The counting of votes will take place on December 8.

On this occasion, PM Modi tweeted in Hindi saying, 'Today is the day of polling for all the assembly seats of Himachal Pradesh. I request all the voters of Devbhoomi to participate in this festival of democracy with full enthusiasm and create a new record of voting.' PM Modi said, 'My special wishes to all the youth of the state who voted for the first time today.'
