Indore: Liquor shops were closed due to lockdown. As soon as shops open in the city, the crowd of drinkers is gathering. Alam is that in the 6 days of opening of shops, about 5 crore liquor has been sold. Out of 175 liquor shops in Indore, 105 shops have been started, 70 shops are yet to open.

Actually, the lockdown started from 25 March 2020. For the first three days, the liquor shops of the city remained open, but after that all the shops were closed. Permission was granted to start liquor shops during Unlock-1 from 1 June 2020. But on 9 June, 29 shops in rural areas were opened outside the city. On the very first day, liquor worth 80 lakh rupees was sold from these shops. After that, 44 shops in the urban area were opened further. Later, when the demand arose, 14 shops were allowed. This included liquor shops in Mhow, Sanwer and Depalpur. When the Excise Department mixed the earnings figures, it was found that within 6 days of starting shops, about 5 crore liquor was sold.

For your information, let us tell you that there are 175 liquor shops in Indore, out of which 105 shops have been opened. From June 9 till now, the staff of the Excise Department has operated the liquor shop. At the same time, 66 out of 105 shops have been given to 25 groups which are going to run them. The remaining 39 shops will be operated by the Excise Department. In the next one or two days, a decision has to be taken about these shops as well. Along with this, the remaining 70 shops are also to be opened.
